Hotspurs Indoor Football Club was started in April 2006 by captain Stefano Leoni and vice captain Gareth Roocroft and was named after the English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspurs. We all wear the 2005/2006 season kits of Tottenham Hotspurs, the inspiration for the name also came from Dutch superstar Edgar Davids, who at the time played for Spurs.
Hotspurs Indoor team plays their soccer at Edenvale Indoor Soccer Club every Saturday and occasionally on Sunday. When we played our first few indoor soccer matches we did not know what to expect and to say the least we did not play very well. Hotspurs first game was against a powerful Cosiro team that had a lot of experience. I really do not want to tell you what happened in that match, but I will... I was away on holiday so we found a goal keeper to play for us, this keeper probably did not know he was allowed to use his hands because the whole match he didn't. Somehow we scored first with about a minute on the clock. After we scored Cosiro started to take us seriously and at full time the score was: Hotspurs 1 Cosiro 31. It was an indoor soccer match just in case some of you thought that this score was from a rugby game. Since then it has been much better and Hotspurs has been building up their squad size. We have many talented players that can play almost any position.
Everyone who plays for Hotspurs Indoor Soccer Club lives in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Most of the players live in the Edenvale and Bedfordview areas of Gauteng. We have got so many dedicated players who all love playing indoor soccer. Personally I think that Hotspurs is one of the best teams I have ever played for. The spirit between the guys is always great regardless of what just happened in the match. During the indoor soccer game we are always encouraging and helping each other out, even the substitutes are always encouraging and shouting out tips. Hotspurs go to every game with a positive attitude and we are always confident.
